Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data the Aheadly app and website collect, why, and what rights you have. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data or show ads.
Who is responsible
Aheadly is operated by Erik Rosqvist, Finland. Contact: aheadly10@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and your password. The password is stored only as a secure one-way hash and can't be read by anyone.
- Your settings: the companies, topics, people and sports you follow, your alert level, languages and whether email alerts are on.
- Push notification token: an identifier from Apple or Google that lets us send alerts to your phone.
- Sign-in session: a random token that keeps you signed in on your device.
- Technical data: your IP address is used briefly to block repeated failed sign-in attempts, and appears in short-lived server logs.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising ID or browsing history. The app contains no advertising or analytics trackers.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you signed up for: your personal feed, alerts and email (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b), contract).
- To keep the service secure, for example to stop password guessing (Art. 6(1)(f), legitimate interest).
- To send a password reset code when you ask for one.
Who processes it for us
- Fly.io: hosts our server and stores account data, in Stockholm, Sweden (EU).
- Expo, Apple and Google: deliver push notifications to your phone.
- Google (Gmail): sends alert and password reset emails.
- Anthropic: our AI analyses public news articles to rate their importance. No personal data is sent to it.
We don't share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, your data is deleted from the server right away. Automatic server backups are overwritten within 5 days. Server logs are kept for a short time only.
Your rights
You can see and change your settings in the app at any time. You also have the right to access, correct, delete and export your data, and to object to its use. You can delete your account yourself in the app, or email us. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
Children
Aheadly isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
